wont work as it uses a totally different format
the format used is for the m1 wavestation ws1 ex ad
and the t series 1 2ex 3ex as they have the extra pcm sam0ple ram that can load them
now the m1 uses the same data format as the korg dsm1 sampler but the problem with this is that when using them in the wavestation they click as the
wavestation requires a 1 sample off set for its interpolation engine but the m1 cards dont have it so that you get clicks
the t series also requires the same 1 sample offset
when converting dsm1 sample disks it automatically does the 1 sample offset so that there are no clicks in the loop
we already have the format as we make pcm disks for the t series using waves and kmp/ksf files
that get sent via sample dump then made into the multisounds
now the 01w series /x2/x3/wavestation sr
use pcmcia sram cards of 2mb
the t series and the m1 use a maximum of 512k 16bits
now there is a program that can write 01w format multisounds but the format is different than the the first generation synths
the second generation ai2 synths use a different sample format they use 32.25khz
where as the first generation can use any of the format of the dsm1/dss1 as there engine is bassed on them
;
there highest frequency range for transposition is 64khz
in theres it can be 8bits or 16bits the sample formats are 12khz 16khz 24khz 32khz 48khz
the higher the rate the more notes of multi sound are required as its a multipul of the frequency to max frequency
32khz will allow a sample every octave 48 you need 2 samples every octave
so the 01w uses the compressed format sample rate that korg uses in its compression algorythum
as do all the lator synths
we are making new pcm cards for the first generation synths
and i have made the pcmcia cards for the 01w

Noel,

I found this rather interesting DIY project that I thought was relative to your project.

Check out the third article down from the top, titled "MIDIbox SCE for Korg Wavestation"

on this midibox.org blog http://www.midibox.org/ . From what I am reading, it does give me the impression that transferring PCM files off of the original KORG cards to EPROM or SD is possible.

This page here http://net.indra.com/~cliffcan/01pcm.htm goes into great detail about the PCM data cards, copying & compatibility issues between the KORG 01/X2/X3 &; Wavestation.

Happy New Year,
Mike

I am always rather amazed at how much $$$ people are asking for the PCM cards, and rather than shell out all the cash for the PCM cards, I would suggest buying the SR module.
