Hi Tom, If you have a pc with midi hook it up and use Midi-Ox to view the midi messages. I found the A-80 Service manual at www.synfo.nl You can try a factory reset which also accesses the test mode. Remember it will wipe all the custom settings in memory. To enter test mode: While holding the 1st, 3rd, and 4th buttons under the display, press channel then press any cursor button. Yeah I've got 6 arms too... He, he. If it actually component failure I would check IC1 and IC2 (74LS03)on the Jack-B board. The midi out signal comes from the CPU to these gates. The connectors and cable could be suspect too. With 4 midi out jacks one or more should work if it was bad solder connections there. They shouldn't all fail at once. Good luck, Fran --- In vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com, "Quazimodo" <noddyspuncture@...> wrote: > > Hi everyone, > > I managed to get the key changed on this Roland A-80, but now I fnd that hooked up to another Midi device, it doesn't 'control' like the controller it is supposed to be. I should have check this before diving in to fixing a broken key. > You live and learn... > > Anyway, anyone have any ideas where I should look first, please? > > Cheers, > TOM >
