RE: [vintagesynthrepair] Yamaha CS5 problem

2011-10-18 by Brian

Hi Ami

I too would be most surprized if the IC was the cause of fuse blowing. The device appears to be a 14 pin DIL switch and even if it were short circuit it may not blow the fuse. I\u2019d be more inclined to look into the power supply area, dodgy transformer, blown rectifiers or short circuit capacitors in the power supply.

Hi All!!!

I have a Yamaha CS-5 monosynth and it blows the fuse all the time. Local electrician inspected it and said that it´s the TA 7179P (IC, 14 pins), that is the culprit... he said he couldn´t find one or its replacement in his catalogues...

Have any of you any ideas where to look for it or a modern replacement IC?

thanks in advance...
chers,
Ami H
