I´m in Hamburg/germany and Roland is not far from my home.
I also have a prob getting a rare chip for a D550 which is a much younger synth than the JP6,- and Roland cannot deliver or order from Japan.
The chip is simply out of stock and will never be available again.
I also own MKS70 and MKS80 and Roland was very helpful w/ burning OS eproms and CEM chips years ago, but now we have 2010 nad many parts are out of stock for old synths.
The JP 6 is very similar to a MKS80 rev. 5 and I fear you would have no luck w/ Roland germany.
The phone number for Roland parts sales in Hamburg/germany is +49-40-5292122
If you speak german good enough, check that out 1st, but shipping the synth from portugal to germany is not a good idea,- it might get lost, stolen or heavily damaged p.ex..
Which chip do you need ?
Go here ...
http://www.vintageplanet.nl/index.html
click "I know it all" and go to synthesizer parts listed by brands, then [Roland] and scroll dwn the list to find Jupiter 6 and MKS80.
If a part is listed and there isn´t a price,- it´s not available.
Senzo, owner of the site/shop is a friendly guy,- and if something is listed but not available, he might put you on a waitlist but that´s no guarantee at all.
Before contacting Senzo, read the stuff on his site which you skipped before when you clicked "I know it all".
This is important for the contact, asking and ordering process.
If something is not listed, don´t ask.
You can also look at ebay or google for "Chip for Brains", "Technology Transplant" or for the part number itself.
O.k.,- good luck.

Hi group,I'm new here and I apologize if I com running in immediately with a question:I have a Roland Jupiter 6 which I bought when it cane out back in 1983. A few days ago I trid it out and after about two years in the cellar (humidity!) it hardly plays anymore. I will spare you all the details of shat doesn't work.Anyway: I am located in Lisbon, Portugal but I travel twice a year to Germany, where I was born.Last time had the JP6 repaired (some notes failed randomly - it was not key contact issue) I waited two years because of a chip which had to come from Japan (or so they told me...) - and I had it done by people who offiically represented Roland (300 kms up north in the city of Porto) at the time! I guess I need one of those vintage synth geeks who know their grear inside and out - and where to get the parts.Questions: how hard is it to get chips for the JP6? Would you recommend bringing the synth to Germany (I will fly there for Christmas and New Year next time). Not that I think Germans are better at this - I just think there might be more of those - and thus perhaps easier to find.I think the Jupiter 6 is an awesome synth. Not the phattest out there, but powerful, quite stable regarding tuning, and with a lot of punch and so extremely versatile that you can get extremely close to tons of classic analog sythns sounds. And it is extremely quiet. Almost no unwanted noise.I'd loooove to have my baby back up and running.Any pointer, any kind of help, would be very highly appreicated,Thanks so much in advance,Christian
