You've also probably got a diode between the battery and SRAM chip, but there would be very little current through it, so the voltage drop should be fairly low.

Hi Scott - thanks for the suggestion. Mine uses Toshiba tc5517afl
ICs. I wasn't able to find the exact data sheet, but I did find one
for the tc5517cfl. The CFL IC retains data with 2 to 5.5V, so I will
have to assume that installing a 3v will be suficient. The old
battery is still outputting 3.2V, but I suppose I am better off
changing it while the thing is open. Thank you again! Damon T.
