RE: [vintagesynthrepair] Hammond A-143 Weak sound A-100

2008-11-21 by Michael Casino

On an AO-28 Hammond preamp, the usual insertion point is between and the
wiper of the tone control and the 12BH7 tube pin 7.

I have the installation directions if you want them.

I have a hammond A-143 that I just took the reverb unit out of. it was wired
to the far right 2 of the 4 connectors on the right side of the preamp, and
there was a tube adapter thing that it was also wired to. the tube right
under the tone control knob. I took out the reverb unit (it was not stock,
it's a reverb mate reverb) and I took out the stock reverb amp. there were
only 4 wires connected to it when I got it. 2 of them went up to a box by
the vibrato scanner and the other 2 went to the speaker. I cut those off and
now my organ sound is really weak.

Ive seen in some pictures of A-100 series organs that there are 2 wires
coming down from the right side of the preamp down to the power amp. Mine
doesnt have those wires there. I was wondering if maybe they were taken off
when the replacement reverb was put in...

How can I fix this??
I tried to wire the reverb units back in, but it didnt change anything
