phil- congrats on your successful repair, & many thanks for the posts.
even though I don't have a 606 myself, I found the story genuinely
inspirational. it's always good to hear from other people who are
determined enough to fix stuff like this, & it's useful stuff for
folks to find in months/years to come if these posts are archived.
