Vintage Synth Repair

Hi everyone.

I haven't gotten any responses to my post before, probably because I  
neglected to put anything in the subject line.

I have two Roland AXIS-1 controllers, but neither of them will power  
up with the power supply that I bought separately from ebay.

I'm wondering if I have the wrong kind of 5-pin XLR cable?  I just  
bought a HOSA cable and expected it to work, but maybe there is some  
cross-wiring needed?
