It's likely to be an issue with Roland's active sensing messages.

 

A good way to test this is to run the TX802 directly from the Roland
keyboard controller - problems is there form what you said.

 

Then, run it via a computer running some software that can filter out active
sensing - I would expect the problem to go away.  

 

I've had similar problems myself in the past!

Just to shut this thread: Problem was imcopatibility with the Roland 
keyboard controller. Hooked up to a DX-7, the unit behaved just fine.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
