Lead/tin solder is still available for repair and home use. Lead free is a pain in the backside. My son works for a company that builds circuit board by hand and automatically in reflow machines. They are having endless problems. There has been so much hype written about the use of lead free solder but lead/tin solder is still legally available and it is legal to use it in repairs. There is an article in either 'Elektor' or 'Every day Practical Electronics' about this, I will try to find it for you. My Son tells me that his firm is instruction not use lead free solder on ANY military contracts. Enough said???
