To All, I finally found the book where the DX7 test procedure is given. Here is : 1 - press simultaneously FUNCTION + 16 + 32 to enter into test mode 2 - "Test mode entry. Are you sure ?" : YES Then, you will have 11 self-tests. To go to next test, press "YES". 3 - "Test 1 Level Adj VR3" : produces a 440 Hz sine. 4 - "Test 2 Display test" : lights on all the LED digits and the LCD pixels. 5 - "Test 3 Sw 1" : you'll be required to press all the switches. . Sw 1 -> Sw 32 = Numeric switches 1 to 32 . Sw 33 = Store . Sw 34 = Internal Memory Protect . Sw 35 = Cartridge Memory Protect . Sw 36 = Operator Select . Sw 37 = Edit/Compare . Sw 38 = Internal Memory Select . Sw 39 = Cartridge Memory Select . Sw 40 = Function . Push sustain = depress the pedal in the sustain switch . Push portamento = depress the pedal in the portamento switch 6 - "Test 4 Kbd" : you'll be asked to depress each key. Follow the display. 7 - "Test 5 A/D" : Analog/digital converters. . Data Entry . Pitch Bend . Modulation . Expression pedal . Breath control . After touch *** WARNING *** The next test will erase your RAM. If you don't want to, switch off your DX7. *** YOU'VE BEEN WARNED *** 8 - "Test 6 Ctr R" : Cartridge read - You need a special test cartridge to complete this test - it will copy the content of the test cartridge into the RAM, and compare the copy with the ROM. 9 - "Test 7 Ctr W" : Cartridge write - you need a RAM cartridge to complete the test. - The cartridge will be completely erased. 10 - "Test 8 Ctr RW" : Cartridge read/write. Speaks for itself. 11 - "Test 9 RAM" : RAM testing Erases everything : internal RAM + RAM cartridge. 12 - "Test 10 ROM" : Check sum of the ROM 13 - "Test 11" : Plays all the notes Note: I've read you can go from test 5 to test 11 by pressing "YES/+1" without inserting any cartridge. You should not screwup your RAM, but I've never tried though. I always switched off after test 5. (procedure found in "Guitare et Clavier" #65, Jul 86) HTH, Fran\ufffdois >From: "Miguel Mendoza" <miguel@...> >Reply-To: vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com >To: <vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com> >Subject: Re: [vintagesynthrepair] Re: DX7 plays no sound.... >Date: Fri, 3 Nov 2006 14:24:06 +0100 > >I don't know how to fix it, but I have the same issue since I replaced the >battery. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: gil_we > To: vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Friday, November 03, 2006 2:13 PM > Subject: [vintagesynthrepair] Re: DX7 plays no sound.... > > > Retraced and so far working ok. > > One thing that I haven't managed to set up is the Internal Memory > Protect to set to OFF.
