Hello,
it is a tipical problem of the VS. All keyboard version have this problem, because of some ground loop in the psu. Try to remove the earth of the psu wire or the ground of the output's jacks.
I definitively solve the problem in this manner: I removed the ground (0V) of the dual power supply from the earth/chassis and connect it by 2 big diodes in antiparallel connection with a 470 nF capacitor in parallel.

I recently bought a Prophet VS. The transformer buzzes
loudly so I'm planning on replacing it. I bought a
replacement from WineCountry but it appears to be the
same make and vintage as the original so I'm hoping it
won't exhibit the same defects...
The other problem with the unit is a ground hum [~60hz
harmonic] in the audio that follows the envelopes.
It's quite apparent when I turn all the oscillators to
null waveform and close the filter. And it is there
when triggered through midi as well so it is not
keyboard-related. As I'm not experienced enough to
trace and find the problem can anyone recomend a tech
in the Toronto area for this repair?
thanks!
steve
