Re: [vintagesynthrepair] Prophet VS

Sequential's financial condition in 1987 prompted a small group of ex-Sequential employees to form Wine Country Productions in an effort to provide after market support for all Sequential Circuits products. In 1988, Wine Country Productions acquired the entire remaining Sequential stock, technical documentation, software, and spare parts. Since that time, Wine Country Productions Inc. has provided spare parts, technical service, and operational support for the entire line of Sequential Circuits instruments every day for over 17 years.

Subject: [vintagesynthrepair] Prophet VS

I recently bought a Prophet VS. The transformer buzzes
loudly so I'm planning on replacing it. I bought a
replacement from WineCountry but it appears to be the
same make and vintage as the original so I'm hoping it
won't exhibit the same defects...

The other problem with the unit is a ground hum [~60hz
harmonic] in the audio that follows the envelopes.
It's quite apparent when I turn all the oscillators to
null waveform and close the filter. And it is there
when triggered through midi as well so it is not
keyboard-related. As I'm not experienced enough to
trace and find the problem can anyone recomend a tech
in the Toronto area for this repair?

thanks!
steve
