Thanks for this info. It actually confirms something I've been doing for a while: Boss Dr-55 drum machines often will not play back, and behave oddly in program mode. Replacing the 4011 chip (I always us a socket, too), can sort this out. Not always, though, and I haven't worked out why. I suspect differences between the tolerances on the modern chips and the old ones. The same thing applies to Soundmaster SR-88s and related machines, they all use 4011s. --- In vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com, "Gareth Jenkinson" <gareth.jenkinson@...> wrote: > > hey chris, thanks for this. i'm pretty new to repairing, confident with a > soldering iron from years of making up guitar leads etc but lacking an > electronics backround. this information is really useful. > > if anyone has similar resources, please post them. i'm sure there are a lot > of inexperienced people like me on the list desperate for tips... > > cheers > gareth > > > On 05/04/06, chris_nairn <chris_nairn@...> wrote: > > > > http://www.oldcrows.net/~oldcrow/synth/tips.txt > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Yahoo!
