Vintage Synth Repair

Does anyone know if the octopus strip key contacts on late Eighties 
Roland synthesizers are available new or interchangable? There's this 
E5 Intelligent Synthesizer from '89 that I've had to fix twice, and 
it just went out again. I assume the contacts are too worn down to be 
useful anymore. They've been cleaned, realligned, and they work for a 
few weeks. Then they're out and I get a call. I also replaced the 
missing screws that anchor the keyboard, and that didn't seem to fix 
it permanently.

I've heard something about Remote Control Repair kits. Those come 
with new pads to stick on the old ones? Has anyone used those?
