power supply buildings for 4 tubes modules

power supply buildings for 4 tubes modules

2007-06-28 by Jon aka Johnnytoobad

I am working on the power supply for the all 4 modules i planned to
build VCO VCA VCF an random noise generator...
does some one know how much Amps use the VCF and the random noise
generator?
for vco it is written 25mA, and for vca 2mA, are they good? i guess
yes...
if someone do have them, it will be fatser than my bad calculation...
that i didn't even started... i did it for heaters because it is really
easy...
thank you very much

Just rough estimates but I think the VCF won't use much more current
than the VCA, the Noise source won't be more than the VCO.

It may be worth building a power supply with the view you will add
more modules in future - the modulator/wavefolder and clipper on Ken's
site are well worth the effort.

Are you planning back to back transformers?

I'm not planning back to back transformers or hammond (probably
370adx), i am just thinking about how i gonna build the power
supply, and these are the two ways possible i found. But i need your
advices i'm still a student in electronic...
I was thinking about one power supply for it all... and you are right
when you are telling me to think about adding more modules in a
future, but i'll built another power supply for my next 5 modules i
got a lot of 50's computering schematics to transform to audio
modules, and i'd like also to make tube ADSR modules so if any one
have schematics, but for now i'm still working on the power supply...

For tube heaters, Ken's tube Power supply uses a switchmodePSU, seemed
a good idea so I used a PSU from an old computer, it was easy enough
to add a pot and adjust to approx 6.3V & 12.6V. Plus lots of amps and
best of all, it was free.

You are most welcome to post them in the files.
I just got a new book to scan -'Electronics in Business Machines' 1963
plenty of good ccts to check out. I will try and upload in the next
few days.

The only one i know is the Electronic Peasant's -
http://www.electronicpeasant.com/projects/tubesynth/tubes.html
which appears to be in development....still.
