While I've never heard the term "volume expander", an expander is
more or less the opposite of compressor -- it increases the dynamic
range of a signal. They are primarily used for sound restoration and
noise reduction.

To which circuit are you referring?? Do you have a link??

check in Langford 1954 - i just uploaded a folder containing the whole
chapter on expanders.

I'm pretty sure anything you find in the files section will need to be
altered to suit your purposes (and available parts).


Hopefully there will one day be a file of ready-to-build tube synth
circuits we can share, but it's early days yet. For now, all these
files are more to help people work out their own designs - how to get
tubes to oscillate, different waveshapes, etc
