Hello

Hello

2008-08-23 by nickhuwar

Hi My names Nick I just joined the group. I'v been wanting to build a synth for awhile and I'm
just getting around to it. I'm into tube audio and I'm a tubophile.

I'm starting my synth experience with the articles by Eric from Metasonix.

I'm an aspiring Electrical engineer and my major experience in tube is in the rf field. So I
don't know a whole lot and I will ask a lot of questions, hope you don't mind.

Hi Nick
Welcome
will this be your first synth?
maybe the hardest job is accumulating the components, but if you are
already into tubes you should have a good head start

cheers
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Yep this will be my first synth, and I have already bought some
tube to start my putting together vco.
I figured this stuff will be easier since I'm use to working with big
tube and these are little. Just to give you an idea I'm building a
tube stereo amp and the output tube is about 10 inches tall and almost
5 inches in diameter. But I do have a monster thyratron that I'm
thinking about making a vco out of just for fun, it's 15 inches tall.
Since as Eric from Metasonix says you can use any thyratron. The only
thing is it will be a space heater as the filament pulls 29 amps.

Should be fun and impractical, which is my middle name when it comes
to tube.

Hello

2010-03-14 by Decaying_Sine

Hello Folks.

I am new to tubesynthdiy and thought I would drop a line.

I am finishing up my Lorin Parker Phantastron build and also enjoy many Metasonix products. I am interested in SDIY, and thought this would be a good place to learn.

Brian / decaying.sine on the groups, EM, and muff's

Well, there is certainly a lot of reading material here! One day I will get
back to building!
