Sequential circuits samplers

im having some trouble replacing the drive on my 2002
i bought a teac fd-2235hf and read the post by someone who added a
couple jumpers and got it to work
im confused as to exactly where those jumpers go?
is it on the pins that the ribbon cable connects to?
when i place a jumper on those pins, then im no longer able
to fit the ribbon cable connector back on (the jumper stops it)
and lastly, is the ribbon connection the only one i have to make?
its the only thing that was connected to the original drive i took out,
but i see references in other posts to a 'power' connection also
