Polysix contacts and something else

2005-02-26 by sunday_vegas

Hello everyone!

I'm new to the group and this is my first post. I recently got my
polysix really cheap. The battery needed changing so i ordered a
similar one (cost about 4 euros). Because i'm no good with the
soldering iron, a synth technician fitted the battery for me for 5
euros. So the battery thing has now been dealt with.

But the problem: one key wouldn't play, so i opened the synth up and
started cleaning the contacts, but the problem wasn't the dirty
contact, it was the missing rubber strip! According to Old Crow's
excellent site, there should be nine 6-cap strips and one 7-cap strip,
but i had ten 6-cap strips... weird. So where can i get that one
missing cap? Has anyone tried improvising with some old computer
keyboard rubber mats? Will that work?

Another thing caught my eye when i was checking things out... Is this
supposed to be like this? Check out the picture:

It's a wire on KLM-370 from R2 and R3 but where should it go?

Regards,

Antti

Only way to get a replacement is to scavenge from another keyboard, or some
other device (computer keyboard, surplus keypad, etc).

The heavy wire is supposed to go to the ground strip on the left side of
the 367 board.

That was done to mine aswell. The attack, decay etc. didn't work on my P6 and the effects didn't either. I can't remember where it goes though.

Try www.winecountrysequential.com on the Prophet-600 parts pages for
rubber key contact strips as the P600 used the same key action.

That wire originally conncted to a ground pad on the KLM-367. Your
KLM-367 must have been fixed at some point. I find it unnecessary to
re-connect, but you can if you want to. It solders onto the KLM-367 near
the original battery (see image)

Thanks everyone for your advice!

For the contact strips, I will probably try improvising first... i
think i have an ancient computer keyboard lying around somewhere..
i'll let you know how that works out.

Yeah, I thought it wasn't anything important since everything seems to
work...
