Battery leakage

Battery leakage

2000-08-02 by Rich Grasso

Hi all.

Was wondering if anyone has had to bring in their P6 for service due
to
the infamous battery leakage problem.

Mine has started to show symptoms of the problem so I was wondering
if
it's repairable and how much I should expect to pay...

I'm in the NYC area if anyone knows of a good shop that can do the
repair...

Thanks.
Rich

Just about all P6s are now, if it has not already been done, in dire
need of a new battery. I've repaired about 35 KLM-367 boards (the one
with the battery on it that takes most of the corrosion damage) to date.

Unless the damage is really severe, just about any P6 can be repaired
due to the battery for about $10 in parts and $50-$100 in labor, depending
on who fixes it. (Of course if you can repair boards yourself, it becomes
much cheaper).

If you want an idea of what to expect in term of the repair itself, have
a look here:

Cheers,

Crow, who needs to put the Trident MkII repair pages online one of
these days...

Heh PolySixers,

Old Crow does excellent work, he made my long lost P6 work after 7 years
of silence. I was (and still am) a happy man.

I'd love to have Mr. Crow do the work for me if he is anywhere near
the
NY area, or even possibly if he isn't.

Otherwise I'll have to coax my father (a rather cranky engineer) into
helping me...

Thanks for the info!!
