Why would a single voice go out of tune?

Why would a single voice go out of tune?

2004-06-19 by toorglick

I haven't looked into the issue yet, but I figure I'd start here by
simply asking. One of the voices goes sharp. I repaired this PolySix
at the beginning of the year and things have been fine up until the
past few days. Sometimes now when I turn it on, I have to turn it off
then on again to get the bank and program buttons to light and
function. Is there a correlation here or are these separate issues?

i have the same issue on one of my both synths. voice 5 has another
sharpness. all what i can say. i changed all IC's, but the same effect.
i guess some condensator is damaged. they will loose there capaticity within
the years. if you find something, it would really usefull for me.
maybe its also an issue of the older voice boards. my one with that issue is
from the first revision

I think I have a later revision board IIRC. I think my issues may be
separate. It seems that after the PolySix has had time to "warm up"
the sixth voice doesn't go sharp. I've been intending to get inside
of her again and maybe modifiy the key contacts so they fire better,
so perhaps I'll do that sooner than later. It's been rather humid in
my neck of the woods lately, so maybe that has something to do with
it, too.

If I discover anything, I'll be sure to post it here.

Okay, bizarre. Turned it on tonight and no problems. It's noticably
cooler and dryer tonight in the studio. Condensation + heat + old
synthesizer = ?
