permanet manual control for polysix?

permanet manual control for polysix?

2017-05-14 by roberflas@yahoo.com

Hi all,

I own one polysix with de KLM 367 dead, because battery leak, I try to repair all traces, change ICs 30, 31. repair trimmer for VR6 and VR7, but all ligths is up , all banks and all program. Arpegiator, poly, chord memory and unison work perfect, but no LFO Light, manual control and write light on.

At this moment I tired of this situation and I want to know if is there any way to use in manual mode without memory patches?

Thank you and best regards

This may sound obvious, but did you actually try pushing the Manual button? :)

Oh, Yes, but any switch of this board work as must be.
This is my problem and want to loose patch memories,  but at least, use the synth in any way, now is only  for pictures.
Thank yoy

I suspect that you are looking for a way to bypass all of the circuitry
that is not working and simply connect the controls to the things they
control. This would require a lot of re-wiring, and I personally think getting
the KLM267 working again would be less work than what you are suggesting.
The Poly Six MCU scans the controls all the time, even in manual mode,
and feeds the results, or the saved settings, out to the hardware using only
a single DAC. So it's not really set up to work the way you want, I think.

There are a few alternatives:

1. Get a clone PCB by Ted Jorgensen and re-populate it (you'll need the old board to transfer some rare components like connectors).

2. Get someone to build you a new populated board or send a clone board for population (Andrew Jury can do this)

3. Buy an alternate new board: the KIWISix (more expensive, but many more features than what a default Polysix has).

I am considering buying kiwisix, but it is expensive to buy it in UK and super expensive to buy it in Spain.
Thanks for your help, this group is great and I have learned many things here.
Thank you

Yep, it's quite expensive but for all the new features, the savings you get on time and material spent, well worth it IMO.

I think kiwisix is too expensive, really !
It's "just" a polysix , do you really care to have all the midi parameters ? And it's seems complex to use .
You don't really save money .

I repaired the KLM367 on my Poly Six, but decided to replace it anyway,
as there were lots of wires soldered on the bottom to replace the eaten traces.
Also, I was concerned about more damage in the future from corrosion under ICs
that I may have missed. So I bought one of the replacement pc bds for around
$20 and moved the hard to find parts to it. I put sockets on all of the chips and
replaced the electrolytic caps at the same time. It does take a lot of time to
do the work, but not so much money and you won't have to worry about battery
leak damage ever again.
