Selecting Hold Mode causes the selected note to drop by a semitone when a key is released

Selecting Hold Mode causes the selected note to drop by a semitone when a key is released

2017-04-21 by t_tangent2003@yahoo.co.uk

Hi all, my first post here. I have recently been trying to fix my Polysix, and I replaced the battery damaged cpu board with the Kiwisix cpu board and power supply board upgrade.

So far all seems to have gone well, and almost everything I have tested so far seems to be working as it should. However I have noticed that when I press a note on the keyboard and then select the Hold mode button, when I then take my finger off the selected note on the keyboard I was holding, the note drops by approx 1 semitone. This only seems to happen when I select Hold mode. If I just select a key on the keyboard and then release it, the Polysix will act as expected and either stop playing that note, or if EG is selected and there is a long release then it will continue playing the same note.

Is this a known issue on the Polysix, or does this mean a related ICs needs replacing. Any help would be much appreciated, so thanks in advance, and if you need  further info then please let me know.

Cheers

Tim

For sure it is not a known issue.

I'd ask over at the kiwitechnics list in yahoo.

Thank you both tonezone020 and Florian for your replies. tonezone020 was correct and it was indeed due to transpose being enabled. I must have done that earlier when trying to see if the machine was working after installing the Kiwisix. And after I reset the transpose back to default position Middle C, when I now select Hold there is no more pitch change on releasing the selected key. I also notice that if I do set transpose by a tone, then the pitch plays a tone lower when releasing the key after Hold, or if by an octave then it plays an octave lower on releasing the key after selecting Hold, etc.

I wonder if this is a feature of the Kiwisix or a bug, so I will do as Florian suggests and ask in the Yahoo KiwiTechnics list.

But thanks again, much appreciated. :)
