I added a small wire to connect the Gnd end of C22, and the PolySix still works fine.
Better to have the cap connected.

wonder what happens if you sub in a 22pf (?) surely each leg of the resonator needs to see a different capacitance for a reason? perhaps to get it going in the first place? Though even with two ten pf caps I guess there may be as much as one picofarad difference? Maybe it's enough? just curious...

There are a number of different oscillator types.   I believe the std MCU one
is called a Pierce oscillator.   If you really want to learn more about it, here is a link:

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
