Japanese polysix

Hello, I am new to this group. I just bought a Japanese polysix in Tokyo and I want to use it in Korea. Should it suffice to use the same stepdown transformer that I use for my US gear or should I buy a special 220->100V one? How big is the risk if I just plugged it in for a couple hours to muck around?
