VTL5C9 installation orientation

VTL5C9 installation orientation

2014-07-18 by pushwithlegs@gmail.com

Hi all,

Looking at the photo posted by brukernavn32, I am still unsure where the four pins on the VTL5C9
are meant to align exactly.

I’m guessing NC denotes “No Connection” however how does one ascertain which leg on the VTL is which so as to correspond to “anode+” “cathode –“ etc in his labeled photograph.

If one looks at the VTL5C9 the top left leg is slightly shorter than the lower left leg and the two legs on the right side are longer and of equal length.

Thanks!

The side with two equal length legs is the resistor side. The cathode side of the other two pins should be marked with a dot or a line. I don’t have one here so I can’t see which has a shorter leg. Diodes are supposed to have a longer anode leg.
The “NC” is definitely no connection. The holes on the board are numbered 1,2,3 down the left side and 4,5,6 up the right side like this:

PC1
1 6
2 5
3 4

Although the old P1501 has 5 pins, there is no internal connection to pin 3, so really only 1,2,4,6 are used.
The resistor side goes across 4 and 6 (no polarity). The diode side goes in 1 and 2, with pin 1 being the anode (positive) side, which is probably the longer leg.
