Thanks!

Thanks!

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this board for helping out with resurrecting my PolySix. It's been almost a year since I picked it up for $300 thinking "man, the battery damage doesn't look TOO bad..."

Well, it's finally working. Here's my first jam after getting it all hooked into my setup. https://soundcloud.com/traxus12/polysix-707

I had a good experience trying (and failing) to repair it myself but I finally bit the bullet and just had the KiwiSix upgrade installed by Ed Miller at Synthesizer Repair in Hollywood (on a suggestion from someone here). He did a great job for a very fair price. This past month it seems like all I've been doing is fixing things but I'm finally getting back into making sounds and it feels good.

Cheers!
-Steve

Around 1:30-1:50, where the 707 hi-hats come in, how do you get that superfast triplet on the hats? I've got a 707, too, and I'd love to get that!

How did you do it?

Ah good ear! Sorry, that's a Korg ER-1. :) I have everything hooked up to my setup now so I was just jamming around. Sorry to be misleading. The PolySix and 707 are my newest additions. There's also a Prophet 08 in there on the high arps. And everything's going through a Mackie 1604VLZ3 with an Alesis Quadraverb and Boss RE-20 for effects.

You could totally get those rapid-fire hats on the 707 by sequencing its instruments externally though, through Ableton Live for instance. I've been considering doing that since I was running into sync problems having the 707's sequencer slaved to Ableton. Eliminating my MIDI daisy-chain and going straight to the 707 has kind of solved the sync issues though.

Sorry to digress!
