Hi all

I have just joined this group and if anyone has questions or P6 problems I will help where I can and have time. I have put in a section in the install part of the Kiwisix Upgrade manual about common problems that I have encountered with the many P6's I have repaired over the years. This can be downloaded from the kiwitechnics.com web site

I saw Syntegrator's unboxing video the other day (thanks!) and I'm very impressed with how the Kiwisix upgrade looks and its features. Are there any video's around of a working installation?

Kind regards,
Ben

Yes, I see there are some great Polysix debugging hints in the Kiwisix
manual. Well done.

Welcome Murray! I checked out your P6 Board the other day, actually. Very interesting!

Hi,
I have installed the Kiwisix on my Polysix, it's a reel good upgrade but :

You have any issue with aliasing with midi control, specially with cuttoff and resonance (use a Antialiasing algo) ?

You have planned a upgrade for keyboard (Fatar sell a good keyboard for DIY) via a expension board ?

You have planned a OSC Support ?

Thanks ;) and you have realised a good job.

Hi

I do not fully understand your problem. If you are referring to controlling the filter cutoff & resonance using midi then yes there is some stepping as midiCC is limited to 127 steps. This is being addressed and full NRPN support will be in the next release (v1.23) which is still being tested. This will allow 4096 step control. You should not get this stepping using the front panel controls as these are converted to digital at 12 bit (4096 steps).

Because the Polysix uses dedicated hardware for the envelopes, note velocity control is not possible so a different keyboard would not help. I currently have no plans to include OSC as the hardware requirements are different.

Some incorrect caps were used in the initial design. This has now been corrected and stepping noises have been greatly reduced. The new firmware (v1.23) also helps this by changing the way the output Mux operates.
