Hi,
Triggering the arp is one thing. Doing a certain pattern is a completely different thing.
If you're just looking for triggering then whatever that can handle S-trig will do.
I don't use dedicated hardware sequencers, only Cubase, so I have no idea what's available.
If you're looking to play specific patterns I'd say it's best to install a MIDI interface.

Anyway, the bassline in enjoy the silence is more than just triggering the same sound. It's changing the filter cutoff freq on each note (whatever instrument they used. I've heard different things).
So you'd need to trigger the arp in an irregular way, as well as control the VCF FM input with the sequencer, if that song your goal :)

Hi, I'm looking for a very simple device I can use to trigger the arpeggiator on my polysix. Does such a unit exist?

All i want to do is trigger the arp so it does a certain pattern when I hit the note (an example being the bass line for Enjoy the Silence / Depeche Mode) is there an extremely simple arp trigger? Just a device where you can setup that send click sounds to the synth for which the arp will follow?

Btw, very stoked about this group!

Thanks for the quick response.

For now I'm not too concerned with the filter cutoff of each key. I'd like to find a way to setup the arp. to follow this pattern.

I'm relatively new to this. Is it even possible (without going midi?) I would like to record the bass line (only timing) and use it on the arp. of the polysix, then, change the keys myself.

Do you have a computer and audio interface already? If so, you might check
out Silent Way.

http://www.expert-sleepers.co.uk/silentway.html

It is a plug-in allows you to use most audio interfaces as a CV source. You
can demo to make sure it will work for you. If it works it is $59.

Re: Simplest unit to trigger arp?

Hi there -

The short answer in no. You won't be able to do that.

The long answer is as Peter described. The trigger only means 'Trigger the next note'. The Polysix only allows you to select specific arpeggiator types: Up, Down, Up/Down (plus octave range). So yes, you can trigger the next note based on one of these three selction but you can't create a pattern of your own and trigger the next note based on that. You're hoping to create what's called an 'ordered' arpeggiator pattern. It's just not a feature on this synth.

The only way to do this is to add a Midi In mod to it. Once you have this you can trigger notes, custom arpeggiators, whatever you like. The pattern you create will come from an external source such a sequencer or another midi synth. I've done this to mine and it's a world of difference. For example, I run the crazy arpeggiators out of my EMU Audity 2000 to the Polysix and it's like nothing I've heard before from the Poly6.
