Polysix Legacy factory patches?

Polysix Legacy factory patches?

2012-08-17 by potophan2006

Hi there,I must apologize in advance for the length of this email. I know it may be a long shot, but does anyone happen to know if the original Polysix factory patches (Bank A and Bank B) were ever recreated as banks (extension .fxb) or programs (extension .fxp) by Korg or a user for the Korg VST Plugin version of the Polysix released in the KORG Legacy Collection? If so, where could one find them?

As much as I love the presets that came with the Polysix VST, the preset patches included aren't the patches I believe to be "factory presets" as listed and sampled here: http://synthmania.com/polysix.htm. I do know that the original factory patches are in the 'files' section as .P6 files, but the VST plugin only recognizes .fxb or .fxp files, it'd be surprising if they recognized the original file type.

Normally I wouldn't be so picky, but I'm trying to recreate the original patches and unique sounds used in the original Off-Broadway 1982 production of Little Shop of Horrors and interestingly enough, the Polysix was the main synthesizer used in that production. Neat, huh? :) The factory patches I'm seeking are most likely the originals used in the show, give or take some tweaking. Right now, I'm trying to use a Yamaha DX7II-FD to cover the patches, but they're still not nearly the same :/

Thanks for any help, it's truly appreciated!

I thought all the factory patches were shown at the back of the user manual. Maybe you could recreate them that way?

Hi,

A file converter program is easily made if you know the file formats.
The information seems not to be available for the VST .fx[b,p] files.
But I believe it is not too hard to find out when you have the VST
Polysix software (which I don't). It would be an interesting project,
though. If you provided me with the software for the duration of the
project I would like to try to make such a converter. What do you think?

Best regards,

Johannes

Re: [PolySix] Polysix Legacy factory patches?

I'm using the scanned copies of the Factory Patches hosted in the files section (thanks to the uploader/scanner!) but no matter how many times I try and double and triple check the values listed, I can't seem to replicate how they should sound. For example, the Bank A's  A-2 patch: Strings doesn't sound like it should when I enter in the correct values. I believe it should sound something like this:

http://synthmania.com/Korg%20PolySix/Audio/Factory%20Presets%20Bank%20A/A-2%20%20Strings.mp3

But instead I hear a pianissimo sounding string section, barely audible. :/

I keep telling myself this wouldn't be so hard if I had an actual polysix, but I'm a poor college student  :P

Any more ideas?
