Last 2 voices are faulty on the polysix. Please help

2010-03-17 by synth.junkie

Hi, I have just repaired my polysix due to the batery leakage problem.
It all functions ok now but the only problem is that the last 2 voices are distorted when cycling through (digital distortion type sound).
The first 4 voices are working perfectly. Can this problem be caused by the board KLM367 that I have repaired or is it a new fault located on the voice board (KLM366) as the first 4 voices are working ok. thanks

You could carefully swap the socketed chips in voices 5 and 6 and see
if the problem goes to 5.

My default answer is that the problem is still on the 367.

I don't see how a problem on the 367 would cause single voices on the 366
to malfunction. My money is on the 366 here.

Friends. This is clearly a problem with the circuitry in and around the
EG/filter section of the Œ366. Does the guy who originally posted own or
know of someone who might be able to lend them and oscilloscope? If you can
lay your hand on one of these then I might be able to give you some
pointers. I¹d lend you mine but I bet you don¹t live anywhere near me!!

Cheers,
Andy

Thanks for your interest.
I own a oscilloscope. Im a technician but have never worked on synths.
I have downloaded the service manual but im not too clear on how the circuit operates. I know enough to get around on the board and do some testing.
I agree the fault must be on 366 board and it must be related to a component/s that shares the last 2 voices
Any pointers will be very much appreciated.
thankyou
