TC5514 memory chip

TC5514 memory chip

2010-03-09 by longenough2002

Now that the photocoupler is working, I've noticed some parameters not being stored for a few patches. The affected patches are A5,6,7 and C6,7. A5 just seems to lose the cutoff value. The others lose MG values and a couple seem to lose just about everything. I can't see anything that would cause this other than a bad memory chip. So, the question is, where is a good source for the TC5514 chip and are there other compatible replacements? It looks like Vintage Synth has them.

I purchased them here:
http://www.questcomp.com/QuestDetailsAll.aspx?pn=TC5514APL-3&pnid=200555&stock=Yes

cheap, but slightly cheaper than Vintage Planet if you are buying a few.

Just before you ditch the old SRAM chip make sure you have correctly set up
the d/a converter using the procedure detailed in the manual!!

Cheers,
Andy

The DAC was off a bit. Must have bumped it while messing with all the other
stuff. However, readjusting it changed the sound of all patches a bit but
didn't help fix the few patches that just won't save what I put in them. I
guess I'll still have to try the RAM chip. Quest has a US $25 minimum and
Vintage Planet has a 15 Euro minimum. Anybody know a good psychic who can
tell me what parts I'll need next week or next month?
Don

Worth making sure you are getting the right analogue voltages back from the
decode... It is always worth bearing in mind that the Intersil HM6514 is a
valid replacement for the old Toshiba SRAM, however, it does have slightly
higher current consumption so be aware. If you are located in the US this
lot reckon they have them available!

I have good stock and will always beat any price including shipping. (I only charge 2.00 to pack/ship a chip. Most use snooty much more expensive methods which often cost near what the item costs) Have NOS chips in stock. -Bob (sounddoctorin.com/synthtec/parts/key.htm for ordering instructions)

Should have thought of asking you first, Bob. Too late now, though. I
already ordered a half dozen from Quest.
