Got a superb MIDI-retrofit for my Polysix!

Got a superb MIDI-retrofit for my Polysix!

2002-09-06 by ullrich_67

Hallo!

I just want to let you know that I added a MIDI retrofit into my
old Korg Polysix and it works fine!

I got it from the company "virtual-music" in Vienna/Austria - they
sell it over their webpage.

- no noticeable MIDI latency
- MIDI channel selectable per DIP switch on the PCB
- no solder work needed for installation
- you just need to make a hole for the midi input connector

It is a very small board that has to be installed instead of the
keyboard controller chip. The keyboard controller chip itself has to
be plugged into the empty socket on the interface pcb. A really nice
solution.

I can really recommend this interface if you need a high MIDI
performance interface or if you just don't want or can't solder in
your polysix.

If you are interested here is the link:

You can also see a photo of the interface on this webpage.

PS: No I am not the owner of "Virtual-Music"...
Just want to let you know of an effortable solution for a nice MIDI
retrofit.

It's certainly a relatively inexpensive option. It seems to do "just"
notes on/off (polyphonic, though), right? No mod wheel, pitch, program
change, etc---more like a keyboard replacement. BUT if all you need is
note on/off, that'll be just fine.

I've added it to the Links page at the YahooGroups site---thanks for
sending it along!

You are right: it is just a note on/off interface. But as my keyboard had
contact problems and the known cleaning tips didn't help for a long time I
needed a solution. And now I can use the Polysix in my midi-compositions and
don' thave to add it afterwards in the harddisk recording process.

Fine! I think that it could also help others!

Poly6 list digestpage update

2002-11-26 by Kristofer Ulfves

Hi all!

I updated the Poly6-list digest homepage again, removing some fualty links
and adding a proper link-section with, among others, a link to Spider Room
Labs who provides a complete discription of a DIY-MIDIkit for the Polysix.
Well worth a look.

Happy synthing!
