Almost dead all polysix's have the same problem. Most likely the battery
has leaked all over the motherboard and destroyed traces. Also, most likely
that if it has been broken for a year it's condition has worsened since
then.

It's a bit like cancer I'm afraid, if you catch it early, it's not too bad,
but once it goes too far, it's pretty much over.

I presume you're located in europe?

Ask if you have any questions, I've fixed several polysix's, gutted the last
one for parts.

new-many questions

midi/polysix and v.tight budget don't go together.

unless you are well versed with electronics, and can build your own
midi-kit from schematics on the web. if you were that good, you
wouldn't be asking us what's wrong with your p6.

I got one... don't have it with midi, don't need midi for it.

as for what's wrong... it could be anything, but the one thing that
happens most often is that the internal back-up battery leaks and
erodes many of the circuit traces on that board. Of course, that's
the CPU board, and without that, nothing will work, or it will work
very poorly.

I'd check that first.

http://www.oldcrows.net/~oldcrow/synth/korg/polysix/index.html
Scott's site. he's the guru here.

This is the information that I used to fix mine. Actually, mine had
already been fixed, but they missed some stuff, so several things
didn't work quite right. I think I still got more fixing to do, but
it's good enough for me.

You wanna open it up and check the center board.. KLM-367.. the one
with the big battery on it.

check the site above, and proceed from there.

Scott's site holds your hand as you go, so you shouldn't have to spend
more than 20 dollars to fix it (if you already have a soldering iron,
knock the price down to 5 dollars) (4UKP).

have fun!

of course, the amount of "doesn't work" could be an issue... does the
switch click when you press it? does anything light up? if nothing
lights at all, you might have a blown fuse.

open it up, and take a look... just don't turn any trimmers (little
knob things).

Thanks for the speedy replies.
Absoloutely nothing at all when it's switched on...mind you the plug
is practically falling off! So I'll do that and fuse before anything.
I'll open it up on a strict 'look don't touch' rule over easter, to
see if that little blue monster(battery)has made a mess of it all. I
have an electriction friend who maybe of some help/use.
Mmm, maybe I'll forget about the midi thing.
Yes I'm in europe (London). Thanks for the help, I'll let you know
how it goes..
Thanks again

since it's "nothing at all" I'd start right where the power comes in,
and check for blown fuses, and broken wires.. do this with it
unplugged for a while, as the capacitors can store juice.. not enough
to kill you, but still.

good luck!

I know a guy that is an expert in fixing the korg polysix. He lives in the
united states. He calls himself the "old crow" and his address is

Please do yourself a favour and take it to a good synth technician.
Dragon Services are based in South London and are very good. The man to
speak to is called Peter Blackett.

Your Polysix is worth getting fixed just right. I have seen too many
badly treated synths, 'repaired' and 'bodged' by well intentioned
people.
