Just got my polysix and problems!?!

Just got my polysix and problems!?!

2007-05-25 by blacknred123

Hi all I just recieved my polysix aware that it had a problem it seems
that every 6th note i play no mater where it is on there board it cuts
out, But only in poly mode. The key does not sound when i have the
switch set to eg on the VCA but when switched to wave on the vca the
sixth note whatever it may be is muffled. Does anyone have any
ideas!?! Bearing in mind that the batt has never been changed i
wodered if this may have something to do with it though all buttons
lights etc work as they should!??!......will be changing batt this week!

First impression is that one of the envelope generators is not working.
Possibly the EG chip itself; possibly the support circuit.

Hi firstly thanks for your reply secondly do you think its easily
sorted i.e. is there much chance of me picking up an EG chip for
replacement assuming that is the problem!?!?

I think those chips are all socketed, so you could ***CAREFULLY***
swap the chips around and see if the problem follows. When you open
the case, you can tell which voice is sounding by the LED. Find out
which one is bad, then swap it with another.. One chip at a time.

Make sure the system is turned off for a couple minutes before you
pull or insert a chip. The chips used are not easy to get, but
possible.

working chip even swapped for the bad still is a bit muffled on that
unit!! once i started removing the chips (ssmt 2056) the problem did
follow!! Now I'm
really desperate do you know where i could get the said chips from!??!

I have no idea where to get the chips... Maybe there is some old
electronics supply house in a near-by villa that has a tube of them..
If you do find a tube and at decent price, I suggest you buy the whole
tube. Then you can sell your extras to us and make a handy profit.

Otherwise.... Figure out what you need, and post to this list. And of
course check ebay.
