Finally got this one working!
I bought an untested clone board on ebay (AUD $210), which was a risk I might admit.
Turns out that Q2, Q4 and Q5 were original components with a different pin-out.
Rather than bend pins, i inserted them on the underside of the board, to flip pins 2&3.
Now it's up and running perfectly, and I could complete the calibration!!
Given I bought the board (with acid damage) for AUD $200, this has turned out to be a bargain. It had one owner, hardly been gigged, and came in the original box!
The cosmetic appearance of it is perfect
