If your Polysix is unmodded, there is no way to sequence notes. You can
just sequence the filter and trigger the arpeggiator. Is that what you are
thinking of doing? I don’t think the Volca has a CV out, just sync pulse, so to
sequence the filter you would need the Beatstep or Beatstep Pro.

I like knobs and buttons. Nor software. Currently I am teased by the volca beats or the Arturia keystep. Nice to have rythms in additions to the patterns.
My Polysix is an original unmodded 1983 model.
Happy for any suggestions and experiences.
