The 106's 80017a chips are troublesome indeed, but I picked up a complete set of new tact switches for twenty bucks US and after an evening with a soldering iron it's like a new synth. I'd rather deal with that than the damage from a post-leak P6 battery.

And since I haven't said it yet, kudos to all involved with this board replacement and the kind souls responsible for the parts lists and offers of technical assistance. This board is a great resource! I feel like I'm missing out, because I'm one of the lucky ones: I found a P6 that hasn't been corroded a previous owner had replaced the battery long before any issues popped up. Maybe I should buy a board anyway and build a custom P6 or something? :)
