thanks for the explaination... now it makes sense about having to pull the pc board and put in the diode. I got a 3.6v battery to match the old 3.6 volt nicad battery... its a lithium 1/2 AA size with soldering pins (SAFT LS 14250) from Batteryspecialists.com for $9.50 with free shipping. the pin spacing is almost the same as the stock battery and they are bendable to fit. Hopefully ill get this done without a major mistake...
