It's possible - have someone with knowledge of electronics open the thing up and check that the "tape in" wires are connected at both ends and the socket is firm so that there is a good contact with both terminals of the plug. If there's oxidization in the "tape in" contacts, remove it. Tweak the contacts in the socket to make them grip the plug tighter if needed. If that doesn't help, measure the resistance of the "tape in" wires from the socket to the circuit board to see that they are ok, and replace if needed. Also, if you have had the old battery replaced - if not, do so without delay to avoid leakage and circuit damage - check that all the wires coming to the memory board (the one with the battery) are properly connected. See Old Crow's pages at http://www.oldcrows.net/~oldcrow/synth/korg/polysix/ The "tape in" and "tape out" work fine on my Polysix using wav files and a laptop. It shouldn't be necessary to tweak treble or anything. It may take some trial and error to find the proper playback volume though. When recording from "tape out", be sure to check that the recording level isn't too high (if it is, the recorded sound will be distorted and won't work when you try to upload through "tape in"). S.
