Allen Strange

2010-10-15 by gino wong

I am posting the Allen Strange (first trade paper ed , I think) book up on Ebay.us. Starting bid will be $10. I am sickened by high prices and greed. This is my way of drawing the line. I am now at war with greed.

It’ll go up on Sunday I think.

Gino,
If it's his Electronic Music book I'll give you $10 for it. Do you take PayPal?
Thanks,
Gary

Arthur Brown @ Glastonbury 1971

2010-10-15 by Robert

Below is a live YouTube video of Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come. I believe this material is from their album "Galactic Zoo Dozier". As many of you know, this group later used the mellotron on their subsequent self titled album "Kingdom Come" and "Journey". Many times I have searched for live footage of this group playing with the mellotron, but have found none.

I've read that this group put on some amazing shows !

The audio and video quality here is not great. Also, I mean no disrespect by some of the video content...

Putting it up on Ebay is in fact hypocrtical. It could end up getting to the $450 ABE books price. hell a vendor might do it to keep the value of his stock up.

I sold it to a Curtis student for $1. He will be able to use it. I also gave him an Elka synth.

My point was not to a greedy bastard or frequent greedy bastards. Henceforth I will just shut up and do right as i see it.

Gino,
Making a profit does not make you a greedy bastard. Profit and greed are two completely different things. Selling
that book for someone who wanted to pay $450 would not have been greedy it would have been smart business.
To the buyer it would have been worth it or they would not have paid that much. Selling food or drugs to to
someone who "needed" it for an "excessive" price because they are "forced" to do the transaction is greed. If that
student just needed the content of the book he could probably have bought the PDF from the publisher for $15. If
you sold your book for $450 you could have bought him the PDF and donated $435 to a needy charity.
Lastly please reread your earlier post:
"There is too much surface noise in this group.

There are lots of places to go on the net to spew forth on politics, religion, guns etc... Probably, even at grade level.

I have seen other groups hijacked by off med psych patients, drunks, druggers, home schooled intellectuals and others who make the traffic on the group go down to almost nothing because nothing on the subject is being discussed without being sullied (ruined, fucked up).

There are smart people who are turning away from this group because it is veering into useless territory."
.....let's get back to Mellotron/music related topics....That is why we are here.

I came for the Mellotron...I stayed for the fun. Please let's keep this fun. Let's not be so quick to be offended by something others might say. Once we begin to edit content, we restrict the flow of ideas, and the fun often goes along with it.
To Gino - I like your stance on this - I've done the same in the past.
To Gary - Well argued and you make some very important distinctions. You have an admirable solution.

Sorry if my earlier rejoinder was somehow interpreted as "New Rules", and publicly putting my money where my mouth was, was crass at best I must admit. I am being a bore and not adding anything to the discussion.

you sold your book for $450 you could have bought him the PDF and donated $435 to a needy charity.
Lastly please reread your earlier post:
"There is too much surface noise in this group.

There are lots of places to go on the net to spew forth on politics, religion, guns etc... Probably, even at grade level.

I have seen other groups hijacked by off med psych patients, drunks, druggers, home schooled intellectuals and others who make the traffic on the group go down to almost nothing because nothing on the subject is being discussed without being sullied (ruined, fucked up). ;

There are smart people who are turning away from this group because it is veering into useless territory."
.....let's get back to Mellotron/music related topics....That is why we are here.

I am posting the Allen Strange (first trade paper ed , I think) book up on Ebay.us. Starting bid will be $10. I am sickened by high prices and greed. This is my way of drawing the line. I am now at war with greed.

Itl go up on Sunday I think.
