I recently sold The Black Mellotron #386 to a new owner in San Francisco. I
decided to give it one final overhaul before I sent it off. I have
uploaded a photo-journal of the work done on it since I acquired it back in 2006
to the main list page in the photos section.

This was a really good machine that had unspeakable horrors done to it by
Sound Sales. I have exorcised all of the demons that lay hidden in it and it
is a great machine. For those that can view them, here are a few photos of
the machine just prior to shipping. You can also see them many more on the
Yahoo page. I installed clear Lexan panels front and rear at the owner's
request although the originals have gone with it.

Out of the cabinet for round 3

I decided to paint the back...

... and then thought, "what the heck" and repainted the whole cabinet

Rewired the power supply again to clean it up. It still had some bizarre
wiring that I had previously left alone because...

... Sound sales had originally committed unspeakable acts upon it.

But now it's all happy again

And back in the cabinet

So here it is, all ready to go home. Notice the clear front panel.

All closed up

If you put clear panels on it, It needs to be pretty inside.

Thanks Clay. More of an evolutionary pictorial than a restoration journal.
During the time I have been working on other Trons I have constantly been
improving this one and as new techniques proved themselves I would apply
them elsewhere. When the new owner asked for the Lexan panels, I decided that
I ought to show the cabinet a little more love.
