Ondes Martenot

2010-03-18 by thomasooo2003

Has anyone ever seen an Ondes Martenot for sale? How much will it be? It has an amazing sound and fascinated me ever... think I have bought all available records and CDs with music for Ondes :-)) But no chance to get an instrument. I guess it will be even more expensive than most Mellotrons, what do you think?

Greetings, Thomas

If....you can find one....I would imagine it would just about priceless.

Thomas,

The last time I heard of one for sale, it was in rough shape and the buyer was asking $18,000. I don't know if that's a realistic price or not, but since they aren't made anymore, I'm sure you're going to pay a lot -- except in France, which apparently is absolutely crawling with the things. ;)

I'd love to have one.

Rick

I think I know of someone who either has or recently had one for sale. Or maybe it was an Ondioline.

They're valuable? Shit. We had two of those things that looked just like
the keyboard in Bruce's photo that we found in our attic when we moved
in here eight years ago. One of them made this horrible screeching
noise, so we gave it to the Goodwill store and the other didn't work at
all - the power chord was missing - and we put that one curbside for the
trash. I wish I had known. Oh, and there was a box of spare parts, too.

For those that don't know, Fritz is on assignment and covering the war
there. There's talk of waterboarding Abdulla Steven Jobah to get answers on why
the iPad can't run simultaneous apps.

Kind of related:

There are three Clavivox for sale here in Philly cheap. Probably really cheap.
Chris Dipinto at Dipinto guitars has them and doesn't know what to do with them.
