It's coming from the old mellotron list. Much as I love my tron, my love is not blind, the mellotron does have limitations. I can understand why it was swept away by synths and samplers. Sometimes it's just quicker and easier to use samples. Merry Christmas Mark --- In newmellotrongroup@yahoogroups.com, "Tron400" <kornowicz@...> wrote:

I wonder just how many of the new Mellotron sounds the Memotron has, or M-Tron Pro or any commercial sample set. New String Section? New Cello? Angry Strings? French Horn? Baritone Sax? Cor Anglais/Oboe Split? Octave Recorders? Ian McDonald's Classical Flute? Chamber Woodwinds? Russian Choir? Gothic? American Pump Organ? Plucked Piano? Etc, etc and on and on. Can you ask him that Frank? I'm no longer on the other list. Bernie --- In newmellotrongroup@yahoogroups.com, lsf5275@... wrote:

And another thing, tech-boy....I am also of the iPod ilk, but I have a studio filled with tape machines that get more play than my digital rig any day of the week. It's been my money-maker for 10 years now and there seems to be no abandoning the analog, according to all the 20-somethings that record here and, to add insult to injury in your case, have their work pressed almost exclusively to vinyl. There is such a thing as an artist's format, thankfully, and it has little to do with digital I'm afraid. Yes, the old consumer formats have faded, but the professional ones are valid and desperately sought out these days. Look around you, you might be missing out on something beautiful.... --- On Thu, 12/24/09, Tony Valone <stuffoncraigslist@yahoo.com> wrote:

I just compared them and they are the same. All this time I thought the Russian Choir was off limits, like the Ian McDonald Classical Flute for instance.
