On the subject of new King Crimson releases...

2009-08-22 by fourtytwominds

...My father recently found the mid 90's re-release of The Cheerful Insanity of Giles, Giles, and Fripp.

Once I got past the sheer silliness of that album and the songs on there that really were not composed or performed well, the rest of the album really started to grow on me. It sounds great loud in my room, however on headphones I discovered that the mix really aesthetically sucks. The stereo placement is perhaps the most egregiously wretched part of the mix.

I'd be interested in those three taking the original tracks (pre-mix) of that album (and the two bonus tracks which were quite nice, I'm working on learning the guitar part to She is Loaded, that would be a very fun track to toss in a set list from time to time and inflict it on the audience) and re-MIXING the album, all nice and clean, with the same care I hear evident on the 30th Anniversary Edition of In the Court of the Crimson King. I don't expect to ever see it in stores of course, but I would willingly purchase it direct from DGM, provided that the price+shipping isn't ridiculous.

However, there seems to be no way on the DGM website of suggesting this to Mr. Fripp...

As far as I'm aware, this was a re-master rather than a remix. (Huge difference to the finished sound). I don't think there's been an actual remix until now.
The story was that they supposedly found the original master stereo tape. Apparently, all previous CD issues were sourced from later generation copies.
Anyone?
