Has anyone seen this before? I was hoping to win this auction, but the
seller apparently won't ship to the states. The price seems really low
- so I hope someone gets this just out of curiosity and maybe issues a
report to the list.

They came up on the old list years ago, and if I recall correctly, Mellotrons have such a hot signal that Streetley offered this box to reduce the output signal amplitude and make the instruments a little friendlier to use on stage. Back in those days, keyboard players usually didn't use mixers and preamps that could tame the signal before sending it FOH.

I had the same problem and now use a "pad" that halves the output.
Norm sent me the circuit.

It's a very simple, passive (non powered) circuit consisting of 3 100k resistors and 2 1/4" input/output jacks.
I suggest you contact Norm Leete for a bettter explanation (sorry Norm!).
It was a collective project, Norm supplied the schematic, and I had it made by a friend because I am THE laziest person on Earth!
I do suggest a "Bud's box" to contain it.
Like to be more help, but my 30+ years in electronics, I delegate.

Sounds like something even I could build (what's a "bud's box"?). Norm?

It is a simple diy project and really isn't even nuuded much these
days but it is an original artifact and many will want it.

A Bud box is a series of project boxes perfect for making up your own gadjets.
They come in handy sizes which obviously a good point and yes most people can assemble them in some productive packages.
Without Norm's consent I don't feel like I should give out anymore info, sorry.
Any competent tech should be able to assemble one.

Neither Norm nor I can remember what's inside.
It's basically a pot preset to a value (under 100k) input, output and ground.

Spiraling- very, very good stuff- an additional pair of thumbs up on their
latest CD. Tom Brislin, keyboards, writing and vox with Spiraling was the
tour keyboardist with Yes on the Magnification tour. If you have access to
the Yes Symphonic Live DVD, check it out as his performance is outstanding.

Who is on the cover? Tom Brislin came to record at my house a few times.
We've been friends since 2003 when he was playing with Camel. Mike Reina was
there last time, as well (lampvalley) I think about 10 different Mellotron
sounds went into the new Spiraling CD, "Time Travel Made Easy." This is the second
one that he has recorded tracks for in the room 'o Mellotrons. I highly
recommend the CD to everyone. Great power prog pop. Tom is an amusing guy and a
great song writer.

That Mellotron is also on the new CD from My Morning Jacket.

Tom also backed Meat Loaf a couple of tours back. He has tons of amusing

Harry. The guy can play anything.
