Peer pressure succeeds again...

Peer pressure succeeds again...

2007-11-25 by thinkingalouduk

Hello all.

Just migrated from the old to the new. As a Virtual Tronnist, I am hoping that this same
peer pressure will eventually lead me to selling the kids and purchasing an unwieldy box
of nightmarish electro-mechanical wizardry (remember folks, all I know how to do is load
instruments into Kontakt) with two keyboards (because I'm greedy like that).

In the meantime, the delightful, heavily EQ-ed tones of M-Tron and the Pinder Sample CD
will continue to be found in my five minute compositions (complete with bad vocals,
cheesy lyrics, and lack of any sort of production values) for all and sundry to ridicule. Prog
it ain't.

In my defence, I suppose I can say that I haven't looped any of the samples. And wouldn't
dream of doing!

Sigh.

One of these days (he said again, wistfully) ...

Illusions of grandeur indeed. Your material is so nicely arranged and
recorded Owen. I can imagine the time and effort involved. The 1st
track that I played was "Peresphone". Once I got passed the Justin
Hayward style vocal I found a very nice song with a great arrangement.
You may want to get a Mellotron some day soon, but you seem to be
making some great music with what you have now.

Keep up the fine work Owen.

Nice flute work on "So Remote". Is that you Owen? It looks like you
are also the tape operator, recording engineer, editing, mixing and
mastering engineer, Logistics Manager and studio maintenance man. Nice
work everybody.

You should get together with Ryan Guidry (Deadwood Forest). Where does
he live? http://www.garageband.com/artist/ryanguidry

Er ... um.

Well, thanks everyone for all the kind words. I'm a bit speechless actually. Maybe if I put
M-TRON in capitals...

Well... er.

Yeah, so when are the first M5000s going to be ready?

Owen

My 2 cents -
There are good digital samples of fine Pianos. Pianos will not become
obsolete. There are good digital samples of Mellotron voices.
Mellotrons will not become obsolete.

Hopefully, we are not a bunch of 'Tron-snobs. You make good use of
the tools available to you Owen. Thanks.

Good question about the M5000: have any been sold?

We have firm orders and several enquiries. Still trying to get M4000s out
at anything like a reasonable rate!

In a posting on the old list, if I remember correctly, the first 5 are
already accounted for. Don't know if any of them have actually taken delivery yet.

Hi Frank, I thought that was in reference to the M4000, not the M5000.
