Hi -

I recently joined the old mellotron group, but was informed this is the place to be.

Thanks to all of you who responded to me over there and tipped me off about this site.

I live just outside Chicago and have a Mk. VI, which was built in 2007. It's been really fantastic to play and record with.

Looking forward to chatting with you all going forward.

Thanks again.

Rick

Welcome to the group, Rick. Where just outside of Chicago? What tapes do you have in your MK VI? What's your preferred method of amplification? I've got an M400, #1407 and right now I'm running it through an old Fender tube amp, which is just fine for writing/practicing.

Welcome to the group, Rick. This is the only place where you can get accurate information about Mellotrons, Chamberlins, Birotrons and life in general.

John -

I live in Wilmette, which is 20 minutes north of Chicago.

I have three tape sets:

3 violins/flute/8voice choir

3 violins/cello/brass

string section/mixed choir/vibes

I just use my standard Roland 350 for an amp. Tubes would probably be nicer but it sounds fine through the Roland. I also use a Boss reverb stomp box and an MXR 10-band EQ

It's been a blast. But I'm having an issue with the headstack/audio cable. I'm trying to send it back to Markus for repair but am getting help up trying to get through the international shipping paperwork nonsense.

Anyway, hope to have it up and running again soon.

Rick

Bill-

Nice to meet you. Holy shit, you've got everything BUT the mellotron.

I'm in Wilmette and I've got a Rhodes, D6 clavinet, Voyager, ARP2600 and the digital knockoff of your C3, the Hammond XK-3c. I love 'em all. I'm also lusting after a .com modular.

Perhaps we can exchange visits once I get the Mk. VI fixed. Having an issue with the headstack/audio cable. I'm in the process of sending it back to Markus for a fix.

Talk more soon.

Rick

OT - Collectors' Choice Music

2011-11-16 by Robert

Gordon Anderson departed CCM earlier this year and it seems that the label is not printing any new titles and I've noticed that some of the back catalog is OOP or is in short supply. I could be mistaken, but my guess is that this label may cease to exist sometime in the future ?

Unfortunately, for some of you on this list, there is not a lot of prog reissues on this label, however, I have found some gems nevertheless...

Currently, DEEPDISCOUNT.com has a 25% off sale (though 11-20-11) on certain titles that include a large number of reissues on this label. Recently, I picked up some CDs for as low as $1.

Obviously, I am not affiliated with CCM or DD and am not promoting either one of them; I'd just thought I would share this information with some of you who may have previously enjoyed collecting certain reissues on this label.

Cheers,

Robert
