Rare Crimson Interview

Rare Crimson Interview

2011-05-14 by David Jacques

From the Palm Beach Post in 1969 during their performance at the West
Palm Beach Festival... (I was there...)

Funny how McDonald and Giles' describe their music...

Check out the front page of this newspaper as well...

Thanks for posting David.

The interview with McDonald & Giles is on page 14 of the newspaper.

I was in 7th grade @ the time; playing my Beatles records backwards listening for clues that Paul "was dead". :-)

The reporter sounds as if she was somewhere north of 50 and more used to interviewing musicians like Lawrence Welk...

I meant the reporter who wrote the front page coverage. Although the one who did the Crimson interview sounded like he was a little less than up-to-date on the current music scene, too...

Yes, thanks for posting. I was only 9 in '69 and didn't even hear of KC
till I was 13 or 14. I also enjoyed browsing thhe rest of the paper.
Neat to see what happened that day. The advertising is a great read
too.

Best,

Note to reporter of front page story: Crimson King is a species of maple tree; King Crimson is the name of a band. (However Crimson King outsells King Crimson many times over every year.)

I also loved the ads. I was surprised that televisions and air conditioners were the same price in 1969 as they are now.

This guy also has a website where he published about 50 pictures of the crowd. I am going through them searching for myself.
